August Kuentzmann Damm, born in Alsace, a region famous for the quality of its beers, fled the Franco-Prussian war and settled in Barcelona by opening a brewery on the Rambla.
Thus was born in 1876 the most prestigious brewing group in Spain: “Fabrica de Cerveza Damm”.
His successor, Joseph Damm, developed the company by introducing both BOCK and PILSEN from which, in 1921, Estrella Dorada was born which later took its current name of Estrella Damm and quickly became the company’s flagship product and a great success international.
Estrella Damm is universally known as the beer of Barcelona also thanks to its presence alongside major events such as the Olympics, world sailing such as the Barcelona World Race and is the official beer of FC Barcelona.
